View

To save the current drawing area view:

Do one of the following:

Select the command.

Click Saved Views from the View bar, and then select New Saved View.

From the Organization dialog box, click the Saved Views tab, and then click New.

If a Design Suite product is installed, from the Navigation palette, click the Saved Views tab, and then select New from the Utility menu.

The Save View dialog box opens.

Specify the view options, the layer and class visibility settings, and define the view transition parameters when moving to the view being saved.

Parameter

Description

View Name

Specify the view name

Save view orientation

Saves the general view parameters of the active layer, including the projection, 3D orientation, and page origin settings. If Vectorworks Design Suite is installed, the plan rotation and the clip cube position are also saved.

Save zoom and pan

Saves the zoom and pan settings of the active layer

Save page location

Saves the design layer page location with the view; if deselected, the current page location setting is used when the view is displayed. The page location of sheet layers cannot be saved.

Save render mode and options

Saves the render mode and options with the view; if deselected, the current render mode and options are used when the view is displayed

Saving the render settings with the view is an effective method of saving and restoring custom rendering options.

Save DMX

(Spotlight required)

When Showcase is active, saves a single frame and current DMX of the live view or DMX playback

Save data visualization

Saves the currently applied data visualization view; see Viewing the drawing by data or by attributes

Save object visibility

(Design Suite product required)

Saves object visibilities with the view; see Object visibility changes using the Visibility tool

Save layer visibility

Specifies the layer visibility options to save; if deselected, the current layer visibility settings are used when the view is displayed

Layer Options

Select the design layer display options

Active Layer

Select the active layer; if a sheet layer is selected, the Layers button is disabled

Layers

Opens the Layer Visibilities dialog box; specify the design layer visibilities for the saved view (see Visibility columns)

Save class visibility

Specifies the class visibility options to save; if deselected, the current class visibility settings are used when the view is displayed

Class Options

Select the class display options

Active Class

Select the active class from the list of classes

Classes

Opens the Class Visibilities dialog box; specify the class visibilities for the saved view (see Visibility columns)

View Transition

To define the transition to this saved view, select whether to:

Use the Animate view transitions Vectorworks preferences (see Vectorworks preferences: Interactive pane)

Set a custom transition for this saved view

Have no transition

Duration (s)

For a custom view transition, enter the duration in seconds for the transition to this view

Motion

For a custom view transition, select the transition's motion.

Decelerate starts fast and gradually slows

Accelerate starts slow and gradually increases speed

Smooth accelerates the view transition at the start and decelerates to the end

Linear maintains a constant speed throughout

The view is added to the saved view list, available in multiple locations; see Viewing saved views.
